Muzaffarnagar (Uttar Pradesh) on August 11 : The Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) spokesperson Rakesh Tikait has warned of another farmer protest.
He has urged farmers to stay united and be prepared for a possible movement, should they wish to safeguard their land and lives.

Speaking to journalists, Tikait claimed that the government of not delivering on its election pledge of giving farmers free electricity in addition to taking care of increasing power prices and the intermittent power supply in villages.

Tikait was the speaker at the very first ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisan’ panchayat in Bitawda village in Muzaffarnagar’s Budhana earlier this week.

He declared that he will be speaking at several more of similar panchayats in the region in the coming days.

Tikait also raised concerns about the Agnipath scheme to recruit in the defence sector.

The BKU leader claimed that the BJP government had abused farmers and addressed the issue of the non-payment of sugar dues due to cane by sugar mills.

“The mills aren’t paying of dues which has exacerbated the financial situation of farmers,” said Tikait, who threatened to sell sugarcane on the desk of district magistrates in the upcoming season of crushing.

Tikait said that farmers, the laborers and the poor were facing a difficult time.”They have many issues that must be addressed, but the government is ignoring the people who suffer from them,” he added.
