Covid turmoil is on the rise in Maharashtra.Maharashtra has the highest number of cases across the country.The situation in Mumbai is much worse.Earlier, the state government had decided to close educational institutions before any threat to students.
The Brihan Mumbai Corporation (BMC) has issued directions to this effect.
The decision to shut classes comes one day after Maharashtra on Sunday reported 11,877 cases.2707 more than the day before and 50 Omicron infections as per the state health department
The BMC has decided not to conduct classes for students in grades 1 to 9, as well as for grades 11 in educational institutions.Orders have been issued to conduct classes for the time being only for students of 10th and 12th classes.
This meant that all other students had to be confined to their homes as they were during Covid.
Authorities have announced that schools will be closed until January 31.The decision will then be made based on the circumstances.BMC hopes to vaccinate all the 4.5 Lakh children between the ages of 15 to 18 by the end of January.
Today, Mumbai recorded 8,082 fresh Covid 19 cases and 2 deaths, while 622 people recovered from the infection.
