SKM Meeting at Singhu Border

New Delhi : Nov 21, 2011 - A day after declaring its agitation would continue despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement that he will repeal three farm laws and announcing to end them, the Samyukt Kisan Morcha meeting (SKM), is currently underway at the Singhu frontier to determine a course of action.

According to SKM leaders, "About 40 people, such as Gurunam Singh Chadhuni and Manjit Rai Darshan Pa, have already begun the meeting." Rakesh Tikait (leader of Bhartiya Kisan Union) is one of the most prominent leaders but hes currently in Lucknow.

Farmers leaders insist on their earlier stated agenda.They will protest until minimum support price (MSP), and three of the most contentious farm laws, are legalized in the Parliament.

Other demands are to pay tribute to farmers who were killed during the agitation at Parliament, which begins on November 29, and to withdraw FIRs from farmers; as well as compensation for the loved ones of those affected.Over a year, various farmers organizations have protested at different entry points to the capital demanding the repeal of three farm laws.

The headquarters of SKM was at Singhu Border in North Delhi, but Tikait camped at Ghazipur Border in East Delhi.niv/ksk/ #Singhu #Border #Delhi.
