New Delhi, Aug 16 : If you are able to recall the story of a Mumbai resident who paid more than 3,000 rupees for an entire 50-km Uber ride in torrential down rain and stormy weather, you can beat the man’s experience on a beautiful day!A resident of Delhi, NCR, took an Uber from Delhi airport (Terminal 2) to his residence on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway earlier in the month. He was required to pay close to Rs 3,000 an afternoon that was perfect and the price of the surge had no chance of arriving!
Deb was shocked to find the end Uber bill when he returned to his back home at the end of the day from the airport on the 5th of August since it had an amount of Rs.2,935 for the 147.39 km ride. However, the distance between T2 to his residence in Noida Sector 143 is about 45 kilometers.
“Hate making a fuss about bad service, but you leave me with no alternative @Uber_India.I had to pay Rs.2,935 to take a taxi from Delhi airport’s T2 to my home in Noida (around 45 kms) on the 5th of August.I was charged 147.39 kms , which is about halfway to Jaipur which I allegedly covered in just a little over an hour!” he tweeted on Monday.
He also revealed that the exact Uber booking cost was Rs 1,143.
“Pick-up drop and pick-up locations” are also incorrect! Pls make this a mess out and reimburse the excess amount.
Also, you must overhaul your complaints redressal process,” he further posted.
In a response to Deb on August 5, Uber customer care said their team of experts was working on the issue and “need some time to address the issue”.
It’s been over 10 days since the incident and Deb hasn’t heard from them since then.
In a response to an affected Uber customer, a different user wrote: “They (Uber) did similar things with me.They charged me around 3-3.5K from T3 until Noida once.I requested a refund since they had shown 1.5K when I made my reservation. They were required to refund.”
Last month, Mumbai resident, Shravankumar Suvarna, was required to pay more than 3,000 rupees for 50km of travel.
Sharing screenshots of the Uber app, which displayed the costs, Suvarna tweeted: “Flight to go is less expensive than my return ride”.
