Gonda (Uttar Pradesh), Nov 25, : A man allegedly murdered a woman and her parents in Gonda district after they fell in love.The incident occurred Wednesday night.
Ashok Kumar, the alleged accuser, was upset that her family had made arrangements for her to marry another man.
The incident left the younger sister of the woman seriously injured.She was referred to King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Trauma Centre in Lucknow, for further treatment.
For information on the suspect who is currently absconding, the police have offered a reward of Rs.50,000
To arrest him, five teams were formed.
According to a police spokesperson, Ashok Kumar entered Devi Prasad’s house at Imliya Gurudayal on Bahraich Road.
He locked the channel gate and barged in, wielding a sharp-edged knife.
“Ashok first slashed Devi Prasad, then Parvati, 50, who had rushed to hear his cries.
According to a police spokesperson, Ashok then hit Shimpa (26-year-old, whose marriage had been arranged recently) and Sapna (24-year-old),” said a police spokesperson.
Devi Prasad’s wife Laxmi, Devi Prasad’s daughter-in law, was unable to enter the terrace and identify him.
“Laxmi began shrieking, drawing the attention of neighbours, who ran to rescue her.The attacker then scaled the terrace with a rope and fled the spot,” said the spokesman.
Superintendent of Police, Gonda Santosh Mishra reached the spot after obtaining the information.He said that Devi Prasad and his wife Parvati, as well as their daughter Shimpa, were declared dead by doctors at the local hospital.
Sapna was referred to the KGMU Trauma Centre in Lucknow.
The SP stated, “Devi Prasad’s daughter-in law Laxmi said in her statement the attacker Ashok Kumar wanted Shimpa to marry him but her marriage was already set up elsewhere recently.He was furious about this.” He called Shimpa every morning, asking her to elope.
Upendra Agarwal (DIG Devipatan Range), stated that efforts were being made to arrest the accused as soon as possible.
