Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao announced on Monday, 19 June, that the Hyderabad Metro Rail network would be extended further to Kandukur in the Maheshwaram constituency.
He added that the metro rail network would be extended to more areas in the state capital region.
The BRS chief also said that the extension of the Hyderabad Metro Rail to the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) would be completed soon.
KCR was peaking after the launch of the ninth phase of Haritha Haram at the Tumuluru village in the Rangareddy district.
He was responding in the affirmative to a request made by Telangana Education Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy to extend the metro rail connectivity to Kandukur.
He said that he would strive to get the metro rail connectivity from BHEL to Kandukur.
KCR added that tenders were called to connect the existing line from Raidurgam to the airport at a cost of ₹6,000 crore.He criticised the past leaders of united Andhra Pradesh for ignoring the inclusion of metro rail connectivity to the airport in the initial phase of the construction.
In the context of Haritha Haram, he said that the BRS government had worked hard to improve the greenery in the state over the last eight years.
Explaining how the state government was focusing on the welfare of communities in Telangana, KCR flayed the Congress for approaching the Supreme Court to stop the construction of the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation scheme.
“It is highly irresponsible on the part of the Congress leaders to stall the project aimed at providing water to meet irrigation and drinking water requirements in Rangareddy district,” he said.
The state government was allocating ₹100 crore for the free distribution of saplings to the people to plant them in open areas, he added.
KCR said that plans had been chalked out to increase forest cover in the state, and also announced a medical college for Maheshwaram.
He sanctioned ₹1 crore for the construction of a community hall in the Tumuluru village, ₹25 crore each for the Jalpally and Tukkuguda municipalities, and ₹50 crore for the Badangpet municipal corporation.
However, Congress leaders made fun of the Haritha Haram programme, which helped in increasing the greenery in the state by 7.7 percent.
