Gurugram, Nov 26th : , More than 50 Muslims performed Friday Namaz on a ground in Gurugram, despite attempts to disrupt the event by some Hindu groups.Members of the Hindu groups performed “Hawan” and “Aarti” on the ground as a protest against Friday prayers. Many members of Hindu organizations had gathered on the ground in Sector 37 at 11 a.m.and performed “Hawan” and “Aarti”.
They also raised slogans like “Jai Shri Ram”, read “Hanuman Chalisa”, and sang Bhajans.
To avoid any untoward incidents, a large police force was deployed.To assess the situation, plainclothed police officers were also present.
Hazi Shahad Khan (Chairman, Muslim Ekta manch), who performed Namaz, said to IANS: “Sector37 site was one of the designated locations for Namaz and since 18-20 year, Muslims are performing Friday Namaz there and there were no disruptions.however, for the last one-month, few people from Hindu organisations have been trying to disrupt Friday prayers which will not tolerated.We will soon be contacting the authorities to protest this.”
One Muhammad Aslam stated: “We have written permission to 20 sites for Friday prayers, Gurugram and Sector 37 was one of them.Today’s incident is the result of a few anti-social elements.These people must be dealt with by the administration.
If such people disrupt Namaz all over the place, then where will we offer Friday Namaz?
The Hindu organizations submitted that they would not allow anyone to seize land for religious purposes.
“We had informed the District Administration that we will perform Hawan & Aarti at Sector-37.This is not a site that was designated for Namaz.it’s illegal activity that is being carried out by Muslims.”The Muslims are disrupting the game of cricket that locals used to play here,” said a member from a Hindu organization.
Hindu organisations claimed that they had performed Hawan in remembrance of the soldiers who died in the Mumbai 26/11 terror attacks in 2008.
A Friday delegation of Sikh Sangat stated that Gurubani is the only permissible activity in Gurdwaras.According to the delegation, Gurudwara premises will not allow Friday Namaz.
