New Delhi, Sep 8 : Air India on Thursday announced the launch of 20 brand new flights every week to Qatar from the most important Indian cities.The increased capacity will meet the increase in demand anticipated during the football festival in Qatar which is scheduled in November and December 2022.The flights, scheduled to start on October 30th and running from October 30 will link Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai with Qatar’s capital city Doha during this time.Thirteen flights every week will operate from Mumbai and Hyderabad, while four flights will operate from Hyderabad and three from Chennai.
The flights will operate in addition to already existing regular flights daily from Delhi to Doha from Delhi.
The addition of connectivity to Qatar is in line with Air India’s expansion of 14 flights to its domestic network in the last month.
The additional 14 flights comprised two frequencies that were added on each of the Delhi-Mumbai-Delhi-Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai-Chennai route, in addition to a new frequency on Mumbai-Bengaluru routes.The expansion of connections to the network is taking place when more aircraft are returned to service.
Commenting on the launch of new flights to Qatar, Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer of Air India, said: “Bringing in the football extravaganza in this region of the globe, Air India aims to create a strong connection between India and Qatar.Fans of football across India are thrilled to play in the stadiums in Qatar in which the top players in football will be playing with each one.”
