Family seeks justice for Indo-Canadian doctor’s murder in Mumbai

Vancouver 25th, August : The family of a prominent Indo-Canadian doctor who was brutally killed by hitmen hired to kill in Mumbai over two decades ago over a property dispute, may finally be able to get justice now that famous lawyer Ujjawal Nikam has taken on the case.
Asha Goel, a 62-year-old Gynaecologist and obstetrician who had delivered more than 10,000 children and carried out more than 50k operations in Canada she was killed at her family’s ancestral home in Mumbai’s Malabar Hills neighbourhood in August 2003.

Goel who was working in Orangeville, Ontario, at the time, had travelled to Mumbai in connection with the family dispute over property.

The son of the victim Sanjay Goel told IANS that his mother was in Mumbai to visit her brother, Suresh Agrawal, when she was killed.

“Suresh Agarwal” conspired with his brother Subhash Agrawal, who was a resident of Toronto to murder their sister due to a dispute over an inheritance of 12 million dollars.Suresh is now died however Subhash remains in the wild in Toronto even though he is the subject of an Interpol Red Notice.He remains wanted suspect in India.

“My mother was slain with an apron knife as well as granite slabs.

She was blinded and her neck was shattered prior to when she was killed.There were 21 marks of injury on her body.” Sanjay Goel added.

Four people were detained and are charged with murder.

Three of them worked for of the Agrawal brothers The fourth one was Suresh Agrawal’s son-in law.

“It required dozens of trips to India by us to keep this case going.Finally, with Nikam as our attorney the case is now being reopened and we are hopeful that justice will be served.We are seeking justice to be done from India,” Sanjay Goel said to IANS.

As one of the suspects has died sincethen, another has been into a witness.

The remaining two be put on trial.
