A single-judge bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court has recently quashed the decision of the YCP government to reduce the price of movie tickets in Andhra Pradesh.Also, the High Court said that ticket sales in AP would continue as usual.
With this, the Andhra Pradesh state government appealed to the Division Bench on the movie ticket prices challenging the High Court single bench verdict.The hearing was held today.
Advocate General (AG) S.Sriram and Chief Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra asked for an urgent hearing on the appeal.The Advocate General heard arguments on behalf of the AP state Government.Finally, the High Court issued key directions on the issue of movie ticket prices.
The High court said that the owners of the theatres should put the ticket price proposals before the Joint Collector.It has made also made it clear that the decision will be made by the joint collector on the price of movie tickets.
In addition, the High Court directed the government to set up a committee to decide on ticket prices in Andhra Pradesh.
