Utter Pradesh stands on top with more fake Universities while Delhi is at the second spot.

On Wednesday, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has informed students and public about the fake Universities in India.

According to UGC, 24 unrecognised Universities are functioning against the UGC Act.Terming them as ‘self-styled’ and ‘unrecognised institutions’, UGC declared them as fake and said they are not empowered to provide any degree.

From the list, Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of fake Universities followed by the national capital, Delhi.In total, Uttar Pradesh has eight fake Universities namely, Gandhi Hindi Vidyapith and Mahila Gram Vidyapith from Allahabad, Varanaseya Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya from Varanasi, National University of Electro Complex Homeopathy from Kanpur, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Open University from Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh Vishwavidyalaya from Mathura, Maharana Pratap Shiksha Niketan Vishwavidyalaya from Pratapgarh and Indraprastha Shiksha Parishad from Noida.

Delhi comprises seven fake universities in the name of ADR Centric Juridical University, United Nations University, Commercial University Ltd, Indian Institution of Science and Engineering, Vocational University, Vishwakarma Open University for Self-Employment and Adhyatmik Vishwavidyalaya (Spiritual University).

Odisha and West Bengal have two such Universities namely- Nababharat Shiksha Parishad, Rourkela and North Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology; Indian Institute of Alternative Medicine, Kolkata; Institute of Alternative Medicine and Research, Kolkata.

In addition to them, Sree Bodhi Academy of Higher Education, Puducherry; Christ New Testament Deemed University, Andhra Pradesh; Raja Arabic University, Nagpur; St John’s University, Kerala and Badaganvi Sarkar World Open University Education Society, Karnataka; are in the fake-list from the states Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Puducherry and AP respectively.

According to the UGC act, 1956, these Universities are incapable of providing any degree, and the students advised to check before seeking admission.
