Anushree believes that while people talk about women empowerment, very few women are behind the camera, and they are often afraid to speak up.According to her, women in the film industry face more struggles than men, and it has been very difficult for her as she does not belong to any influential family in the industry.

Anushree grew up in a middle-class family in Mumbai and always knew that she wanted to make a spy-action movie, which is not synonymous with female filmmakers. While pitching her movie, her business partner and co-producer, Abir Sengupta, helped her and took a stand for her.Anushree claims that besides men, there are several patriarchal women in the industry, but during the making of Mrs Undercover, it was the men who supported her the most.

The film celebrates the role of homemakers in movies, and Anushree is proud of it.She broke several stereotypes while making the movie, as spy comedies have never been made with a female protagonist, and homemakers are not shown in this light before.Radhika Apte, known for portraying roles in content-driven stories, plays the character of Durga, the ex-agent turned homemaker.Anushree believes that Radhika has immense potential and wanted to explore it more in her film.Radhika’s comic timing is phenomenal, and she understands what her director wants from her.

Mrs Undercover is set to release on April 14 on ZEE5.Abir Sengupta and Anushree Mehta produced the movie, and it also stars Sumeet Vyas and Rajesh Sharma in important roles.
