At least eight persons, including migrant workers, sustained injuries on the morning of Wednesday, June 21, after a newly laid slab of a flyover collapsed in Bairamalguda near LB Nagar in Hyderabad.All injured are undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital, of which two are being treated for head injuries.
The ramp connects the Chandrayanagutta to LB nagar flyover to Chintalkunta.The incident happened when the workers were laying the slab.
The flyover is a part of the Hyderabad’s Strategic Road Development Programme (SRDP).The work is being executed by BSCPL company.
Among the injured are four from Bihar and three from Uttar Pradesh and a site engineer identified as Gopalakrishna from Visakhapatnam.Condition of two injured workers is critical now, said police.One of the workers fractured his leg.
The works for the flyover’s 12 slabs was completed and the construction of the ramp to connect the flyover towards Chintalkunta has just begun.The slab around 10 metres long collapsed from a height of around 15 feet.
LB Nagar MLA D Sudheer Reddy inspected the spot and inquired the accident details.
He directed officials to provide best medical treatment to the injured workers.
A case has been registered against the contractor, ACP LB nagar P Sreedhar Reddy told media.
