Thiruvananthapuram Sixth of September : All is in place for “the largest political yatra” ever conducted in the country.Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra will begin in the Tamil Nadu capital of Kanyakumari on Wednesday, at 5 p.m, Congress General Secretary, Organisation, K.C.Venugopal said.
Gandhi arrives here on Wednesday afternoon.
From the airport, take helicopters to Kanyakumari and, after spending some time in the various locations there start the yatra.
Chief Ministers and senior leaders of the Congress will be present at the occasion, as will Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin.
Venugopal said that the yatra’s purpose is to free the nation from the Modi regime.
“For the last eight years, our nation has been slipping back in all areas and this yatra will not be only an Congress yatra but is for all those who oppose the Centre.
Therefore, the Congress is leading the way with Gandhi and, when it gets to Kashmir the population of the nation will firmly oppose the Modi government that has brought troubles to those living in the country,” he said.
The yatra will comprise 118 permanent members .It will travel across the country, covering more than 3,750 kilometers through 12 states before reaching its final destination in 150 days.
The yatra crosses the Kerala border on September 11, and will encompass 43 Assembly and 12 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state, covering 453 kilometers in 19 days.
