New Delhi, Aug 18 : The first and second shifts of the fourth stage of the CUET (UG) entrance test that was held on Wednesday were canceled for 13 centers, affecting 8,693 applicants.The proposed date for exams will be announced on Thursday.
However, the date that has been proposed for the examinations is on August 25.
UGC Chair Professor M.Jagadesh Kumar said that the exam was conducted for 1,458,885 candidates in two shifts on Wednesday.Due to inexplicably technical issues, the shift 1 and 2 examinations were suspended at 13 centers.
Of of 1,458,885 applicants in the two shifts Uttar Pradesh had the highest amount of students (44033) closely followed by Delhi with 25,131 students.
The tests took place in one center each in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Daman and Diu, Goa, Leh, Ladakh, Manipur, Mizoram, Puducherry and Tripura.
The exam was conducted in 245 cities, which included cities in remote areas such as Navsari, Itanagar, Barpeta, Nalbari, Araria, Arrah, Begusarai, Bettiah., Bhabua, Buxar, Jammu, Samastipur, Bilaspur, Deoghar, Kargil, Leh, Morena, Behrampur, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sri Ganganagar, Ballia, Basti, Chandauli, Ghazipur, Mau, Sonbhadra, Srinagar (Uttarakhand).
Along with Wednesday, the fourth stage of the CUET (UG) will be conducted on Friday and Thursday.Admission cards were issued to candidates for the examinations this week.An aggregate of 3.72 lakh applicants are scheduled to take part in the test in the fourth stage.In the first three months, 6.31 lakh candidates have registered in the CUET (UG) examinations.
By taking the CUET (UG) admissions will be granted to undergraduate classes in the total of 91 universities, which includes the central universities in the country.These exams are being taken to be able to enter the first year of study.
The first stage of the CUET UG examinations began on July 15th.The exams will continue until August 30.
According to the UGC chairman, the majority of applicants have been offered cities of their preference.But there are approximately 11,000 candidates who were not able to be assigned the exam centre or the city of their preference.
Exams of all of these students are scheduled for the 30th of August.
Candidates who were unable to take part in the Phase 2 exams that were held on August 4 5, 6, and 4 or for technical reasons or due to the cancellation of the examination center are allowed to participate in exams scheduled to take place between August 24 and 30.Admission cards of the students will be distributed on the 20th of August.
