K’taka reports five Covid deaths in 145 days after; health dept mulling restrictions

Bengaluru 11 August : Karnataka has recorded five deaths caused by Covid-19 in the span of more than 145 days in the last 24 hours, according officials.
The death of a woman aged 20 with any comorbidities or a rise of BA 5 variant has been a cause for concerns.

She was suffering from Typhoid, and was admitted to the hospital on the 3rd of August in Dakshina Kannada district.She was diagnosed with Covid and died.

The state health department is looking at tighter restrictions, including the possibility of imposing fines for wearing masks in public spaces, ensuring the social distance, and many more.A high-level meeting of Covid Technical Advisory Committee scheduled for Wednesday was postponed due the illness of the Health Minister Dr.K.Sudhakar.

If the meeting is held the decision on the alarming situation and also restricting access will be made from sources in the health ministry said.

Sources have said that the government is likely to look into limits in the Ganesh festival.

The health department has already offered its view in this regard , and the government will need to decide regarding that.

According to the statistics of the health department, the state has reported 1 680 Covid instances in the past 24 hours.The positive rate has increased to 6.80 percent and the numbers of active cases has increased to 10,351 in Karnataka.

Health department sources stated that the incidents have risen to 2500-mark in the past in Karnataka.The number of hospitalizations are also increasing.

The BA 5 variant, which can affect individuals in spite of vaccination, is quickly spreading in the state.

They also stated that BA 5 variant is found in those who have taken three doses of vaccination.

In this context the health department is worried and is considering the possibility of imposing restrictions in the state.
