22 farmers unions create a political front in Punjab for the elections

Chandigarh (IANS 25 Dec) Twenty-two farmers unions, who were protesting three farm laws in the Samyukt Kisan Morcha, announced on Saturday that they would form the political front “Samyukta Samaj Morcha” to compete for the 2022 Punjab assembly elections on all 117 of their seats.
However, Balbir Singh Rajewal (the Chief Minister’s Face) clarified that there is no current alliance with any political party or even AAP.

He also didn’t exclude any possibility of a future.

Rajewal stated to the media that they did it because of public demand.

He stated that some unions were against the move but would not oppose it.

The political front was formed by ten other unions that belonged to the state, and which were members of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha.

These included the Krantikari Kisan Union, Darshan Pal and the BKU Krantikari (Surjit Phool), as well as the BKU Sidhupur and Jagjit Dallewal.

Darshan Pal, a farmer leader, said that most of the farmer demands, such as the MSP (minimum Support Price), were still to be met.The political front was launched to weaken the farmers’ movement.

He stated that SKM was created for a greater purpose, and suggested that farm leaders shouldn’t do inhumane things to farmers by getting into politics.

Every union is free to take its decisions.Pal said that we have gained the trust and support of the farmers throughout the country, but will not be entering politics.

BKU (Haryana), President Gurnam Singh Chhaduni had earlier this month announced that his party Samyukta Sangharsh Party will be fighting the forthcoming Punjab elections.
