New Delhi, Dec 8, : Naga People’s Front MP K.J.On Wednesday, Kenye raised the issue about killings in Nagaland during zero hour in Rajya Sabha.He said that the AFSPA was bringing more animosity to the regions where it is enforced. He stated that the security forces had killed innocent people in the state, which has caused more problems.
The opposition MPs supported Kenye.
The House chairman did not allow suspension notices of the RJD to be issued on the same issue.
After Tuesday’s first cabinet meeting, the Nagaland government — following the December 4 shooting by security forces that left 14 civilians killed and 30 others injured — decided to push the Central government to withdraw the Armed Forces Special Power Act,58 (AFSPA) from the country.
Following the meeting of the state Cabinet, Chief Minister Neiphiu RIO presided over Nagaland Planning and Parliamentary Relations Minister Neiba Kronu stating that the Cabinet had decided to write to Centre to immediately repeal the AFSPA.
The Rajya Sabha saw the opposition, which was led by the chair, refusing to reconsider the suspension of 12 MPs.They resorted to sloganeering.The chairman stated that the House had taken the decision to suspend MPs and not the chair.
It should be resolved between the House leaders and the opposition.He adjourned to the House until 12 noon amid the noise.
