After the spontaneous worldwide success of SS.Rajamouli‘s pan-India epic ‘Baahubali‘, Netflix announced its live-action prequel series, in August 2018.It was named as ‘Bahubali: Before The Beginning’ which was being directed by Deva Katta and Praveen Sattaru has telecasted its first season in September 2018 and was wrapped up in August 2019 which received a great positive response.
Based on Anand Neelakantan’s novel, ‘The Rise of Sivagami‘, the two-season show was billed as the most expensive Indian series coming out from Netflix.
Mrunal Thakur was cast to play the young Sivagami along with actors like Rahul Bose, Atul Kulkarni, and Anup Soni in pivotal roles.Moreover, prequel series captures Queen Sivagami’s journey.
From a rebellious and vengeful girl to a wise and unequalled queen.This 13 episode series was telecasted a couple of years ago and the fans have been waiting for the second season with a lot of excitement.
Sadly, it is known that the second season failed to impress the producers and disappointed with the way the series shaped up and they expressed their displeasure over some VFX scenes too.This giant streaming platform has completely scrapped the project and now it is being re-shot with Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy who earlier helmed ’99 Songs’ by AR Rahman.Apparently, Rajamouli will be supervising the production of this web series from now on.Even Arka Media will be involved in the making process.Sources say that Vishwesh came up with a final draft that impressed Netflix and Rajamouli himself.
The makers are basically aiming to make this series along the lavish scale of ‘Game of Thrones’.Currently in pre-production, the prequel will kickstart around April-May next year.
Top-tier technicians and artists will be roped in for the project.On the other hand, Dev Katta is busy with a new film starring Sai Tej whereas Praveen Sattaru has just shot a series called ’11th hour’ on AHA and has approached Nagarjuna for his next.
