New Delhi, Aug 29 : The Election Commission is scheduled to consider a petition regarding the exclusion of Basant Sorenan JMM MLA from Dumka and the younger brother of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren –, on Monday in the case of disqualification.The Election Commission has already sent its recommendations to the Jharkhand Raj Bhavan on Hemant Soren’s office of profit issue.A decision is expected any time.
The poll panel issued a notice to Basant Soren in accordance with section 9A of the Representation of the People Act which addresses with the denial of an elected lawmaker from an official contract.
It is alleged that Basant Soren in his election declaration concealed the fact about the fact that he was the director of an mining company.The BJP claimed that he is in the position of director, which is a part of the definition of office of profit, since he is also a public representative.
In the notice issued by the EC, Basant Soren was asked to state whether it was a suitable circumstance of the suspension of his membership in the Jharkhand Assembly under section 9 A of the Representation of People’s Act because he is believed to be in private business.in private enterprise.
