New Delhi, Aug 29 : Samsung on Monday announced it would extend its industry-academia program to 70 engineering schools in India to help create an array of experts for the latest R&D problems.Samsung The PRISM (Preparing and Encouraging Student Minds) program has been successful in encouraging engineering students to file patents and to publish technical papers in the most cutting-edge fields like artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) and IoT.
In its first year in 2020, the program has taught more than 4500 engineering students.1,000 professors have collaborated with Samsung R&D Institute, Bangalore (SRI-B) engineers to complete live projects successfully The company said.
As of now, more than 300 teams have been recognized for their outstanding work and have also been awarded.
The R&D centre has filed more than 3500 patents in India and more than 7,500 patents worldwide.
“Working with Samsung, young students have had hands-on exposure to the live work of an R&D centre , and professors have gained more hands-on industry experience.This is helping students become industry-ready and is furthering our dream of Powering Digital India,” Srimanu Prasad said.Director of Tech Strategy, SRI-B.
In the course of the program, SRI-B collaborates with students and faculty members at engineering colleges, providing them with research and development projects to be carried out over a period of four to six months.
Students from engineering colleges in the top positions of the Government of India’s National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings across India have taken part in the program so far as per Samsung.
“Over the past two years, we’ve already seen impressive results, with student teams filing patents and submitting technical papers in cutting-edge fields,” Prasad said.
