House panel to examine evidence by Union ministry for employment, welfare of OBCs

New Delhi, May 20 : The Lok Sabha Committee on Welfare of the Other Backward Class(OBC) on Friday will examine the evidence of the representatives of Union Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers (Department of Fertilizers) on measures undertaken to secure representation of OBCs in employment and for their welfare in Madras Fertilizers Limited (MFL), Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited (BVFCL) and Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Limited (FACT)’.

According to the officials of the Lok Sabha Secretariat, the House panel will see what step has been taken to ensure the proper representation of the OBCs in the employment and their welfare measures as per the law.

The Committee will also make recommendations after examining the reports and also do follow up by the Ministry on earlier recommendations and observations with regards to adequate representation.

The 31-member Committee is headed by the BJP Lok Sabha MP Rajesh Verma, which has 21 members from the Lok Sabha and 10 from the Rajya Sabha.

Another Lok Sabha Committee on Public Undertakings will also examine the briefing by the representatives of Power Finance Corporation (PFC) Limited in connection with its comprehensive examination.

The 22-Member Committee is headed by the BJP MP Santosh Ganwar, which has 15 Members from the Lower House while seven Members from the Upper House.

The Committee on Public Undertakings (COPU) is a committee of selected MPs, constituted by Parliament for the purpose of examining the reports and accounts of the public sector undertakings (PSUs) as specified in the fourth schedule of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in Lok Sabha.

This committee along with the Public Accounts committee (PAC) and the Estimates committee (EC) are the three financial standing committees of Parliament.
