New Delhi, Nov 25 : Delhi Police have busted a fake call centre-cum-consultancy racket that allegedly cheated more than 60 people on the pretext of providing them jobs in the Gulf countries, and apprehended six persons, including two women, in this connection, a police officer said here on Thursday.According to the officer, the special staff team in Shahdara received information that a fake call center was being operated near Vishwas Nagar.
A police team was then formed to collect all details about the suspects.
After gathering all details, the police team raided the premises and discovered that two young women and one male were calling from their mobile phones.
Fake visas and offer letters were discovered on their laptops when the police team checked them.
The officer stated that all six of them — Ankit Gupta (Navneet jain), Vijay Kumar (Vijay Kumar), Javed Siddiqui, and two females — were captured.
During interrogation, Ankit, the accused and the kingpin behind the racket, revealed that he used social media platforms to post job advertisements.Job seekers used to call the number in the advertisement.
The job seekers were asked to submit their documents online by the accused.Within a matter of days, the fraudsters had provided fake offer letters and fake visas to victims from the Gulf countries.
They collected Rs 15,000 to 20,000 for visas.The officer stated that the investigation revealed that the accused had spoken to over 300 job seekers and that 57 of them had deposited the deal amount within the last two months.
The owner of the premises where the call center was located has also been taken into account.
Police have recovered 18 mobile phones, two ATM card, five fake sim cards and three laptops from the suspect.
