Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s grandson Kalvakuntla Himanshurao has been conferred the prestigious ‘Diana Award’ by Britain government.The award is presented annually to those aged 9-25 who have worked for change in society, with a humanitarian perspective.Britain is presenting this award in memory of the late Britain’s Princess Diana since 1999.‘Youth have the power to change the world’ is the motto of the organization.
Himanshu started his self-project called SHOMA to make the villages self-sufficient.He selected Yusuf Khanpalli of Gangapur in the Gajwel constituency and established the industry of making ‘non-perishable food items with the help of sponsors.
The villagers indulged in the process of collecting, processing and packing the raw materials required for the industry.In this industry, about 50 per cent of the workers are women and the machines used in the project are fully solar-powered.This project employs youth and women.Himanshu received the award at a recent virtual event.
Speaking on this occasion, Himanshu thanked the people of Yusuf Khanpalli for cooperating and the chief minister of Telangana KCR for guiding him throughout the project.
