Thiruvananthapuram 19 Aug : the Leader of the Opposition V.D.Satheesan has written to the Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on providing cash reward to athletes who earned medals during the Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham. Satheesan claimed that Kerala was still to do it.
“You have felicitated five Keralites who were awarded medals.While all other states have made announcements of cash prizes, we have yet to announce them and I ask for you to follow suit.
We would like you to announce and distribute the awards as soon as possible,” wrote Satheesan.
The winners of the medals from Kerala include Eldose Paul and Abdullah Abubacker, who won the gold and silver medals in triple jump.Similarly, in long jump M.Sreesankar and P.R.Sreejesh in hockey took home the silver medal.Treesa Jolly took home the bronze award in badminton.
