Islamabad the 22nd of August : As news reports about the of the issuance of arrest warrants for the former Pakistan PM Imran Khan appeared on social media and a large number of his supporters throughout the nation took to the streets on Monday in protest.PTI leadership Fawad Chaudhry Hammad Azhar, Asad Umar, Murad Saeed, Omar Ayub Pervaiz Khattak and thousands of PTI workers gathered at Bani Gala, Khan’s private residence in Islamabad and staged an occupation to block the PTI Chairman’s arrest.
In the meantime, PTI supporters also gathered in other cities of the country to show their displeasure over the possibility of arresting the former premier.
In Lahore In Lahore, hundreds of PTI supporters were gathered in the city’s Liberty Chowk and staged a protest.
Similar to that, protests were being held in Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Faisalabad.
In Karachi, PTI supporters launched protests in Shahrah-e-Faisal close to Insaf House, however, after declaring the protest, the supporters were dispersed, Geo News reported.
During the protest at the entrance to Bani Gala, PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry stated: “Imran Khan is present in Bani Gala however hundreds of PTI supporters have gathered here and a large number of supporters are headed towards Bani Gala.”
The the former Defense Minister Pervaiz Khattak, after reaching Bani Gala said, “nobody can detain Imran Khan”.
Additional police forces have been stationed within Bani Gala and the road leading to his home has been shut down for non-authorized persons and only those who are close to him and inhabitants of the region to access the area, sources said to Geo News hours after the formal registration of the case.
