AP farmers approached Telangana High court on Krishna Waters dispute

Farmers belonging to AP filed a house motion petition in the Telangana High Court on Sunday protesting against the generation of hydropower in Telangana on projects on the Krishna River.Already, the AP government has complained to KRMB about Telangana’s hydropower generation with Krishna waters and asked it to stop power generation.Telangana also reacted strongly to the complaint.

Political party leaders of both the states are criticizing each other for the inter-state water dispute between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

AP govt made it clear that after generating hydropower from Krishna waters, the Telangana govt is diverting the water into the sea.With this, AP regions dry up and the farmers will be left helpless.

Against this backdrop, tensions are escalating in both states.Both state governments deployed a large scale police force near the projects and dams.

Police have temporarily suspended tourism to the Srisailam, Pulichintala and Nagarjuna Sagar projects.

However, today, the farmers of AP approached the Telangana High Court.

AP farmers have asked the high court to suspend the GO issued by the Telangana state government on June 28.In the petition, the farmers alleged that the Krishna river water was being discharged into the sea after generating hydropower.
