New Delhi, Aug 24 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated on Wednesday the 2600 beds at the Amrita Hospital in the presence of spiritual leader Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma) in Faridabad.With 2,600 beds with 534 of which are ICU the hospital is expected to be one of the largest hospitals in the nation.
The Prime Minister officially opened the hospital with an official plaque to mark the historic event.
In his remarks on the occasion of the inauguration the Prime Minister said that since the country has entered the Amrit Kaal and resolutions and aspirations are beginning to take form it is only fitting to receive the nectar of blessings of Sri Mata Amritanandamayi.
The hospital, he said, is an amalgamation of spirituality and modernity.It will be a source of affordable and accessible treatment for patients in need.
“Amma is the symbol of compassion, love and sacrifice.She is the bearer of India’s spiritual traditions”, he said.
In a tribute to the long-standing tradition of medicine and service of the nation PM Modi declared: “India is a nation where healthcare is a priority and wellness is a charitable cause.In India, there is a connection between health and spirituality are interconnected.Medical science is an Veda.The designation of Ayurveda to our medical research.”
He said that this model of taking on the responsibilities related to medical and education by social and religious institutions is in a manner similar to that is similar to the PPP model of olden times.”It is referred to as Public-Private Partnership but I also think of it as “Paraspar Prayas” (mutual efforts)” the PM added.
In his address to the people from the ramparts of the Red Fort, the Prime Minister explained that he has set up the vision of the five vows of Amrit Kaal in front of the nation.One of the five vows (Pran) is the complete abdication of the idea of slavery.
He pointed out that it is being discussed frequently in the country at the moment.
The Prime Minister stated: “When we give up this attitude our direction of our actions will change too.” This shift, he continued, is evident in the system of healthcare of the country, as there is an increase in faith in the traditional wisdom of the nation.Yoga is widely accepted today and the world will be celebrating International Millet Year next year,” added PM Modi.
In her message to the population, Amma said: “Illness causes an atmosphere of despair and unhappiness.Therefore, more than any other sufferers from illness that require our tender and loving care.
Hospitals are their sole source of refuge as well as shelter and refuge.For the patient’s needs are concerned doctors are God’s visible image since they are the only ones in a position to provide patients an easing of their suffering when in pain.

The campus covers 130 acres.
