Naga Chaitanya, a popular Indian actor, has not had a hit movie in a long time. His recent movies – Bangaraju, Thank You, and Laal Singh Chaddha – failed at the box office.
His latest movie, Custody, directed by Venkat Prabhu, has recently been released in theaters but received poor reviews from critics and negative comments from netizens on social media.
However, despite the negative response, the film has surprisingly received high ratings on IMDb and Bookmyshow.
Many people are questioning how disaster movies are getting such high ratings on IMDb.Even the previous week’s releases, Rama Banam and Ugram, received similar high ratings despite being disasters.
Custody has a rating of 8.4 out of 10 on IMDb and a 9.5/10 rating on Bookmyshow. But despite the high ratings, the movie is not doing well at the box office, with low audience turnout and poor collections.
The film stars Naga Chaitanya and Krithi Shetty in the lead roles and tells the story of a cop.The movie earned 3.20 crore rupees on its first day for all languages, slightly higher than Yashoda’s 3.06 crore rupees and Shaakuntalam’s 3.00 crore rupees, both of which were released earlier.
Yashoda was Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s first film since her divorce and her Myositis diagnosis, and she received praise for her performance as a pregnant woman looking for her sister.
On the other hand, Shaakuntalam, based on Kalidasa’s Sanskrit play Abhijnana Shakuntalam, failed to perform as expected at the box office.
Overall, it seems that the film’s mixed reception has not affected its ratings on some popular movie rating platforms, though its actual success remains to be seen.
