Chennai 8th September : The well-known Tamil actor Parthiban has revealed that his role in director Mani Ratnam’s highly anticipated magnum opus, ‘Ponniyin Sevan 1’, may be small , but it’s just as important as the bookmark in the pages of a book.Participating in the recent trailer and audio event of the film in which he is the key character of Chinna Pazhuvettaraiyar.She is the commander in charge of the Tanjore fort, Parthiban said: “My character is just as important as that of an article that serves as bookmarks.”
In explaining the meaning behind what he was referring to, he said: “When we read a book we often fold over the top edge of the page to indicate the point at which we’ve stopped reading it.This mark, which typically assists a reader in resuming their reading from there in fact, splits the text into two pieces.Similar to my character in this film although small is significant.”
The actor was also able to tell an incident that was funny on the set of “Ponniyin Selvan’.He stated: “Brimming with confidence gained from speaking traditional Tamil well in Selvaraghavan’s film ‘Aayirathil oru”, I tried to deliver a classic Tamil dialogue in an extended way for director Mani Ratnam.
“However the director who is famous for his short wit, shot me down, and, he asked me to keep the story simple.”
