Washington 16th August : Washington’s conduct on the international stage could lead to direct conflict between nuclear states as the Russian Embassy in the US has warned, according to media reports. “Today the United States continues to act with disregard for other nations’ security or interests, which leads to the increase in nuclear threats,” the embassy said in an announcement via its Telegram channel, RT reported.
“The (US’) steps to engage in an unipolar confrontation with Russia in the context of the Ukrainian crisis are filled with unpredictable escalation , as well as an immediate military conflict of nuclear power,” the statement said.
The embassy pointed out it was noted that Washington has recently pulled out of two key arms control treaties that were signed in 1987, the Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces Treaty that banned certain types of land-based missiles, as well as the 1992 Treaty on Open Skies, which allowed surveillance flights to the territories of each other, RT reported.
The embassy called on the US to “take an in-depth look at the nuclear policies of its own, instead of making unsubstantiated accusations against those countries that have worldviews that do not align with those of the American one.”
“Our country faithfully meets its obligations as a nuclear weapon state and is determined to minimize nuclear risk,” the diplomats said.
The announcement comes after the US claimed that Moscow of employing the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant in the southern part of Ukraine to hide its troops.
The largest plant in Europe was seized by Russian soldiers in the beginning stage of Russia’s military operations in Ukraine that was started in the latter part of February.
It is still operating with Ukrainian staff under Russian control, RT reported.
