Lucknow 15 Aug, Lucknow : The Uttar Pradesh Police has attached and destroyed properties worth more than 3190 crore rupees mostly in accordance with the rules of the Gangsters’ Act from the year 2018.In addition, criminal legal proceedings in the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) were initiated against criminals who had been declared to be absconders and been unable to surrender before the courts.
According to the most recent police records, in the first 100 days of the second Yogi government the property worth 864 crore belonging to gangsters have been confiscated.
The home department and police officials stated that action would continue to be taken against most prolific criminals of each district.
Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Avanish Awasthi said that law and order had significantly improved during the initial five years of the Yogi government.
He claimed that by removing organized crime in the state the Yogi government has succeeded in making Uttar Pradesh as a model state.
“Illegal slaughter housesthat operate under the protection of mafia, as well as illegal parking areas were destroyed.There has been efforts to clear government land of illegal occupation, and a strict action is being taken against mafia members involved in illegal trade of coal.
The properties of criminals involved in illegal activities were seized and their licenses revoked,” said Awasthi.
In the second term of the Yogi government 50 mafia organizations of major importance have been identified at the state-level, and 12 at the level of headquarter.
The police have taken action against 62 mafia gangs without discrimination, said the officer.
According to the police report that was compiled by the police, 431 criminals have been detained in the 405 instances.
Two criminals wanted in more than two dozen cases, were killed in the course of police investigations, and 20 gangsters have been found guilty through the effective investigation of cases.
Two criminals were handed death sentences, as well as NSA proceedings were imposed on other 65, Awasthi added.
