Bengaluru 23 August : The family of Santhosh Patil, the contractor from Karnataka’s Belagavi who committed suicide in protest of an offer for a 40% commission in contract work from former minister K.S.Eshwarappa’s aides.The family has also questioned the validity of the clean chit that was given to Santhosh Patil in the court.Prashath Patil is a cousin of Santhosh Patil, on Tuesday filed a petition to question the validity of the clean chit given to Eshwarappa by the Special Investigating Team (SIT) in the Special People’s Representative Court in Bengaluru.
He claimed that SIT detectives have submitted the B-report (closure report due to the absence of evidence) in the wake of political pressure.
He also asked the court’s permission to entrust the case to an agency that is not his.
Karnataka Police had submitted the closure report last week.
Following the passing of Santhosh Patil, then Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Eshwarappa was forced to step down in the cabinet.
The Congress party, which started an agitation and campaign against the current BJP government calling for the demotion and detention of Eshwarappa and been questioned about the release of the closure report.
Congress President D.K.Shivakumar stated that the current BJP government was covering up the corruption charges against its top officials.”Even the BJP leaders aren’t receiving justice, and the average person will not also receive justice,” he stated.
He even claimed that, during the course of investigation the chief minister Basavaraj Bommai the former CM B.S.Yediyurappa and the state Home Minister Araga Jnanendra gave the accused Eshwarappa an unclean chit.
Opposition leader Siddaramaiah said the fact that Santhosh Patil had left a death note that stated that Eshwarappa was the primary cause of his death.
However, Eshwarappa was not questioned and questioned at all.
Jayashree the wife of Santhosh Patil, had sent a letter to Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot raising her concerns about the police probe.She said that they will be able to approach the court in connection with the end of the investigation.She has called for an CBI investigation.
Patil was found to be committing suicide in April 2022 when he took his own life.His death notice stated that he had decided to end his life due to the fact that he was unable to pay the 40 percent commission to cover the Rs.4 work he did.He was adamant that Eshwarappa accountable for the rash decision.
