Telangana BJP president is detained amid protests about Delhi liquor fraud (Lead)

Hyderabad 23 August : Telangana police on Tuesday detained the state BJP president Bandi Sanjay after thwarting his attempt to join demonstration in Jangaon district over the booking of charges against party members who had protested in front of TRS MLC K.Kavitha’s residence the day before.
With tight security, police moved Sanjay to the police training center in Karimnagar.

The scene on Tuesday became to be tense when BJP activists took part in to stop the police from capturing Sanjay.

However, the police who were deployed in large numbers were able to remove Sanjay the BJP leader away, even when his supporters tried to block the route at various points along the route.

The BJP leader was planning to protest in a sit-in with other leaders of the party and workers against the detention of party members near the home of Kavitha in Hyderabad on Monday, in connection with her alleged involvement in Delhi alcohol scam.

The BJP leaders claimed that protesters were detained in non-bailable sections.

Invoking slogans in opposition to the TRS government and Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao, the BJP workers attempted to thwart the police.This caused a lot of tension, and the police had difficult time in managing the situation.

The police eventually arrested Sanjay who is a member of Parliament, along with other leaders, and then shifted the suspects to Karimnagar.

BJP has claimed that Kavitha who is the daughter of Chief Minister KCR was involved in the multi-crore fraud.

Kavita was on Monday denial of any wrongdoing.She also threatened legal action against BJP leaders in this case.

In the meantime, Sanjay alleged that KCRA was trying to create a West Bengal-like scenario by threatening to make arrests of BJP workers and leaders.

The state BJP chief was also clear that he will continue his “Praja Sangram yatra” and reveal the corrupt practices of KCR and his family.

The MP stated that KCR was scared because of the overwhelming public reaction towards his padyatra.He was concerned about the arrest, as he was performing the padyatra with peace and was no law and order issue anywhere.

The BJP has called for a state-wide demonstrations to protest the detention of Bandi Sanjay.Protests with a black flag will take place on the evening of Tuesday in all mandal capitals.
