New Delhi, Aug 17 : Foodgrain production in the country is expected to be record-setting 315.72 million tonnes in 2021-22, a rise of 4.98 millimetric tonnes in 2020-21.The fourth and final estimations of the production of important agricultural crops for 2021-22 were made public by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
The 2021-22 production is greater by 25 million tonnes over the five previous years’ (2016-17 to 2020-21) average production of foodgrains.Record production is expected for maize, rice pulses, rapeseed, gram and mustard oil seeds, as well as sugarcane.
Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar declared that the record-setting yield of numerous crops is the outcome of the policies that support farmers of the Central Government under the able direction of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as well as the unflinching hard work of farmers as well as the hard work of the scientists.
According to 4th Advance Estimates estimates of the production of major crops for 2021-22 will include foodgrains 315.72 million tons.
The total production of rice in 2021-22 is estimated to be the record 130.29 million tonnes.It is more than 13.85 million tonnes than previous five years’ average of 116.44 million tonnes.
Production of wheat during 2021-22 is estimated to be 106.84 million tonnes.This is up by 2.96 million tonnes than previous five years’ average production of 103.88 million tonnes.
Production of Nutri/Coarse Cereals estimated at 50.90 million tonnes, which is more by 4.32 million tonnes than the previous five years average output of 46.57 million tonnes.
The total production of Pulses in 2021-22 is expected to the record 27.69 million tonnes, which is more than 3.87 million tonnes over the previous five years average output of 23.82 million tonnes.
