Los Angeles, Sep 3 : Hollywood actor Timothee Chalamet was the only one of Venice looking red last Friday for the world premiere of “Bones and All”.He was wearing a sparkling red jumpsuit with no back.The film is a reunion of Chalamet with his “Call Me By Your Name’ director Luca Guadagnino, lives up the title with violent scenes and scenes that involve eating and chewing limbs.
But despite the controversial theme, the crowd in the Venice premiere of the film was awed by ‘Bones and all’.
The film received an 8.5-minute standing ovation.It was the longest and the most passionate of the festival thus far according to variety.com.
The crowds in the Sala Grande were cheering ‘Luca! Luca! ‘ The Italian director took a deep breath and wiped tears from his face.
Chalamet and the entire cast, including Taylor Russell, who plays the film’s antagonist Maren made their way down the steps of the mezzanine at the theater to greet the crowd in the orchestra that greeted them with the most applause.
Chalamet invited the crowd to go on as he handed out portions of paper with Guadagnino and Russell’s names on them.in order to reserve their seats to encourage more applause.
Chalamet portrays Lee the pale young man who goes on the road with an attractive woman he encounters who has the same troubled past.The journey is filled with self-discovery and murder.
In one scene, which takes place at an event, Lee seduces a man who suggests the man is bisexual (or perhaps pansexual) however, he eventually finds himself in an affair with Maren.
“Bones and all” is inspired by the novel of the same title by Camille DeAngelis.Guadagnino’s ‘Suspiria’ author Kajganich wrote the script.
The supporting cast The supporting cast includes Mark Rylance, Michael Stuhlbarg, Andra Holland, Jessica Harper, Chloe Sevigny, Francesca Scorsese and David Gordon Green.
It is notable that ‘Bones and All Guadagnino’s very first film made in the United States.It also marks the reunion of the director and Chalamet who was one of the youngest top actor Oscar nominations in history due to his involvement in the first film collaboration ‘Call Me By Your Name’.
Guadagnino has described the role of Chalamet in the film the film a heartbreaker.
“The moment I saw it, I thought that I believe only Timothee is the best choice to be a good actor,” Guadagnino said in an interview last year.
“He’s incredible, a superb performer , and to see him flying like he is right now, I am extremely satisfied of him.And this character is quite new for him, which is both charming and heartbreaking.
Guadagnino has a long tradition with Guadagnino has a long history with Venice Film Festival.His first directorial work “The Protagonists” premiered during the 1999 festival.
MGM will release “Bones and All” in theaters on November 23rd.
