Washington 17th August : Nearly 14 million kids in the US have been confirmed positive for the Covid-19 virus since the start of the disease in the early 2020s in the most recent report from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Children’s Hospital Association.More than 371,000 of these cases have been added in the last two months, Xinhua news agency quoted the report as saying.
About 6.4 million cases reported were increased to 6.4 million in 2022, the agency said.
In the week that ended August 11, nearly 87,000 children Covid cases were recorded.
There is a necessity to gather more data specific to age to determine the severity of illnesses that are linked to new variants, as well as possible long-term effects, according to the AAP.
“It is vital to recognize that the immediate effects of the pandemic that affect children’s health but we need to recognize and address the lasting effects on the mental, physical and social well-being of the current generation of young people and children,” said the AAP.
As of Wednesday morning, the total death toll and the number of cases in the US was 94,869,936 and 1,063,087respectively.
The two tallies are the highest elevation in the world.
