Simultaneously, Singh is being suspended administratively — he was ‘untraceable” for almost six months before he appeared in Mumbai last Thursday.

Walse-Patil responded to a question about the IPS officer who reportedly took charge of his post as Commandant-General, Maharashtra State Home Guards.

He said Singh didn’t re-join his office, but waited in his reception area on Monday.

The Singh-Vaze meeting raised eyebrows in political circles.

It sparked off a major dispute yesterday with the state Congress crying foul, demanding an investigation.

Atul Londhe, spokesperson for the State Congress, said that the two men — who are accused in multiple cases by various state and central agencies — met Monday afternoon ahead of their appearance before retired Justice K.U.The Maharashtra Government has established the Chandiwal Commission of Enquiry.

“Why have they met.Who permitted this meeting and for what purpose? Londhe demanded what they discussed, as they are both being accused in multiple cases by different agencies.

Londhe claimed that Singh-Vaze’s meeting flouted rules that clearly stated that any two accused persons pursuing any probe cannot be allowed “to meet” in this manner.

Londhe demanded that Dilip Walse, the state Home Minister, conduct a thorough investigation into the “meeting” and asked if any high-ranking officials or politicians had “conspired” to arrange the meeting in order to derail ongoing sensitive probes by the relevant agencies.
