New Delhi, Aug 22 : Chief Justice of India N.V.Ramana on Monday said that in the Constituent Assembly and in the beginning of the Parliament the House was heavily dominated by lawyers which resulted in “an excellent Constitution and perfect laws” However, now the quantity of lawyers has decreased and the space is occupied by other.In his speech at a party to celebrate the birthday of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar by the Supreme Court Bar Association in the memory of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar, he said: “On every occasion, I am talking about the significant contribution of the legal profession in our struggle for freedom as well as in the creation of the Constitution.When we had the Constituent Assembly, and in the beginning days of our Parliament in the beginning, the House was filled with lawyers.”
“As the result, we received an outstanding Constitution and perfect laws.Today, the quantity of lawyers has decreased and the space is occupied by other lawyers.I’m not going to go on.”
He claimed that legal education, practice, and familiarity with the justice system can help one understand a range of social realities and provides a greater understanding of the rule of justice and equity.
The Chief Justice stated that Dhankar is the son of farmer and senior advocate during his term will be given the unique chance to ensure the smooth functioning of the Rajya Sabha as its ex-officio Chairman and this requires an alignment of the needs of every side of the House.
“I am aware that it is difficult to please every member of the House.But I am certain that with his extensive court skills and experience in many areas, Dhankhar will definitely manage to be a part of all the sections of the House.
Very soon , I’m going to retire and want to watch on television the best debates in Rajya Sabha,” he said.
He stated: “It gives us immense happiness that one of the legal community has achieved this level of success.Although he is a first-generation lawyer, Dhankhar has achieved great heights in the legal field.He earned a brand name and was a force in the courtroom.”
The CJI noted that Dhankhar is well-known for having an active attitude whether it’s in the capacity of a lawyer an elected representative, Minister or Governor up until recently.”His enthusiasm and dedication for the causes he is a champion of while helping the court are impressive.His extensive legal experience brings with it the prospect of maintaining and advancing constitutional principles while performing the obligations of the prestigious Constitutional Office,” said the Chief Justice, who is scheduled to leave office on the 26th of August.
