“Ours is a democratically-run party, and its leaders are able to vote on resolutions, but what happens after the elections are announced will depend on the circumstances at the moment.

“People require patience as well as tolerance. If neither of these things are in place an alliance cannot be successful”.

In response to the resolution passed by the provincial committee of the NC, Suhail Bukhari, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) spokesperson stated, “PAGD was conceived for more than an electoral alliance. If any member of the alliance has reservations about any form of electoral alliance it won’t affect our unity in pursuit of the larger objective.”

The PAGD was established in the following of the repeal of Article 370 and downgrading of the state to the union territory.

The principals of the PAGD represent the renewal of Article 370 and statehood for J&K.

One of its constituents The Congress has however, called for the return of statehood, but kept a low profile on the restoration of Article 370.
