Chennai 11 September : Actress Amala Akkineni who has taken the Tamil film industry by storm with her amazing roles in Tamil films prior to getting married to Telugu superstar Nagarjuna and setting up home in Hyderabad says the transformations she has seen in the past 30 years as awe-inspiring.In a discussion about the transformations she has seen throughout time, the actress who has a similar audience in Tamil as she has in Telugu she stated: “It’s amazing.Every year, I witness this increase, this change.It makes me feel very happy.The world has opened.It is now possible to travel anywhere in the world.”
“Many promising areas and opportunities have opened up for women.They can do whatever they want to.I am happy that I had the opportunity to see this in my life time.”
Amala states that she thinks that the thought process more significant than lifestyle when discussing women’s rights.
“My mother hails from Ireland.I have witnessed her living with the freedom which many Indian women didn’t have at the time.
Many believe that wearing western clothing and living their way of life is an indication of the individuality.However, nobody discusses the process of thinking.It was for me a crucial aspect.
“I attended college in the traditional clothes we wear to college.I don’t believe that it’s a matter of wearing Western attire.I believed it was essential to be able to think freely.The freedom of mind is vital.Today, we see it everywhere.It’s also very satisfying to observe women in all areas of film too.Aren’t they?” she said.
Amala will be seen in an upcoming bilingual Tamil-Telugu film titled ‘Kanam’ which will be released on Friday.
The film, produced by Shree Karthick, stars Amala, Sharwanand and Ritu Varma in the lead roles.
About what “Kanam” is, she said: “‘Kanam is an adventure.An account of the adventure of three people who are not extraordinary.
They have poetically and beautifully described how to overcome every failure.There will be plenty of laughter in the film.There is also some jolts.The jolt itself will bring you back to your the events of your life.
“It helps us realize that we must do our best in every opportunity.The film gives us that drive.The film will inspire you and help you understand that should you do fall, you need to get up quickly.”
