Industrialist Cyrus Mistry killed in Maha road crash, Govt requires investigation (3rd Lead)

Mumbai 4th of September : A well-known industrialist Cyrus P.Mistry, who was the CEO of the multi-national Shapoorji Pallonji Group and was a former Tata Sons Chairman – was killed in an accident on the road in Palghar in Maharashtra in Maharashtra in the afternoon of Sunday.The Maharashtra government has ordered an investigation into the accident.
He was 54 years old and is survived by his wife Rohiqa and older brother Shapoor Mistry and other family members.

The death of Mistry comes just two months after his father Pallonji Shpoorji Mistry the Chairman Emeritus of the Group who died at the age of at 93, on June 28, in Mumbai.

Vice Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident that rocked the nation’s corporate world.

The tragic incident occurred when Mistry’s car, with at least 3 others traveling with the driver between Ahmedabad to Mumbai was smashed into a road divider at around 3.15 p.m.

According to Palghar police officials, Mistry was travelling from Ahmedabad to Maharashtra when his car over-speeded and struck a road divider along the River Surya near Charoti, about 105 km to the north of Mumbai.

There were four persons in the car, out of which two of them, including Mistry suffered fatal injuries in the crash that caused the vehicle to be badly damaged and the driver survived, according to the police.

The two other injured and whose identities aren’t yet known, have been admitted to the Rainbow Hospital in Kasa.

The police have described it an “overspeeding incident” that could have caused in the tragic accident, especially considering that Palghar and the surrounding regions have been stricken with torrential rain since the weekend.

The news caused shock waves in Indian business and political circles and many responded with initially shock and disbelief.

In a tweet of condolences, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote: “The untimely demise of Cyrus Mistry is shocking.He was a successful business executive who believed in India’s economic strength.

The passing of his father is a major loss for the world of industry and commerce.Our condolences go out to his family and his friends.Let the soul of his loved ones rest in peace.”

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed shock over the tragedy and said that Mistry’s loss is not just to his family, but also to the entire industrial sector of the country.

NCP MP Supriya Sule expressed shock about the situation.”Devastating Information My Brother Cyrus Mistry passed away.I can’t believe it.”Rest in Peace Cyrus.”
