Hyderabad Sep 3 : Hyderabad, Sep 3 : Union government has decided to declare Telangana Liberation Day on September 17 with an elaborate celebration here.The Ministry of Culture will organise an event at the Parade Grounds.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to take part in an event on the day to commemorate Hyderabad State’s admission to India in 1948.
Union Culture and Tourism Minister G.Kishan Reddy said on behalf of the Central government he will invite the chief ministers of Telangana, Karnataka and Maharashtra to participate in the event.
Telangana and a few districts of the present the day Karnataka as well as Maharashtra comprised of the earlier Hyderabad State.
Kishan Reddy who is also a member of Lok Sabha from Secunderabad He said that the celebrations will be held in the coming year to mark the celebrations of the 75th anniversary of Indian Independence.He demanded chief ministers of all three states to be present at the event on September 17 and also ensure the proper conduct of all year long celebrations.
The minister from the central government said that the specifics of the program will be announced following consultations with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other Central leaders.
Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai is likely be present in the event alongside with Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde or Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.However, Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao is likely to stay away.
BJP has long demanded the Telangana government to recognize the 17th of September each year to be Telangana Liberation Day.The reality is that Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) along with other non-BJP parties, observes September 17 to mark Telangana Merger Day.
TRS does not in favor of celebrations in the official sense in due to the fact of the opposition of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and other groups who argue that there’s no reason to have distinct celebrations in Telangana since there’s only one day of independence for the entire country.
BJP officials have been claiming that TRS is not celebrating the day because of the pressure of AIMIM.
In the meantime, Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay stated on Saturday that prior to taking over, Chief Minister KCR had promised to officially organise Telangana Liberation Day, but because of the fears of AIMIM he shamelessly backed off by insulting martyrs’.He stated that if elected to the powerhouse in Telangana the BJP will officially organize the day each year.
He was pleased with Kishan Reddy’s decision to organize the celebrations on a formal basis.
Sanjay described as ‘assaultful the plans of CM KCR to organise Telangana Vileena Vajrotsavam or the golden Jubilee of Telangana’s merging.
