Townsville (Queensland) August 30 : Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been excluded of the two remaining one-day International against Zimbabwe this time due to an ankle soreness that is minor with wicketkeeper Josh Inglis replacing him in the squad.Australia will play their second Cricket World Cup Super League series match against the hosts on Wednesday.
They have been 1-0 ahead after a five-wicket victory in the same venue on the 28th of August.
Although it could be a setback for the Australian team for the next two ODIs Australia are expecting Marsh to be in good shape to play in the T20 tour of India next month ahead of the World Cup Down Under in October and November.
The 30-year-old Marsh was averaging six overs in Australia’s victory on the 28th of August, claiming the opening wicket with an intelligent catch and then bowled to take out Innocent Kaia, and finishing with figures of 1/22.Australia had earned 10 Super League points on the route towards the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup with the win, and victories in the two remaining matches will likely propel Aaron Finch’s team up to sixth place in the table.
The top eight players in Cricket World Cup Super League receive automatic entry into 2023’s World Cup, with the lowest five having to pass through the Cricket World Cup Qualifier, according to ICC.
Marsh’s replacement Inglis is likely to build on his single OOD appearance in Sri Lanka, where he lost to Maheesh Theekshana with just five at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
