New Delhi, Aug 29 : The Election Commission is scheduled to consider a petition regarding the denial of Basant Sorenthe JMM MLA from Dumka and the younger brother of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren –, on Monday in the case of disqualification.The Election Commission has already sent its recommendations to the Jharkhand Raj Bhavan on Hemant Soren’s office of profit issue.A decision is expected any time.
The panel had issued an announcement to Basant Soren in accordance with section 9A of the Representation of the People Act, which is concerned with the exclusion of legislators from receiving the award of a government contract.
It is alleged that Basant Soren in his election statement concealed the fact about the fact that he was the director of an mining company.The BJP claimed that he is in the position of director, which is a part of the definition of office of profit, since he is also a public representative.
In the notice issued by the EC, Basant Soren was asked to state whether or whether it was a suitable circumstance of the revocation of his membership in the Jharkhand Assembly under section 9 A of the Representation of People’s Act because he is believed to be engaged in the private sector.
It is claimed that he made use of his influence to secure mining rights and other rights for business.
The BJP claimed that Article 192 of the Constitution restricts elected representatives from engaging in the business of others.Grands Mining Works is a Limited Liability Partnership company established in February of 2015.
