Dubai 26 August : Pakistan suffered another setback on the day of the beginning of the Asia Cup T20 cricket tournament when fast bowler Mohammad Wasim Jnr was ruled out of the tournament because of a left side strain.Wasim was injured injury while bowling in Pakistan’s practice session for the ACC T20 Asia Cup on Wednesday.
He is not the only Pakistan speedster who was barred out of the Asia Cup before the start of the tournament.The left-arm speedster Shaheen Shah Afridi was earlier removed because of an injury.Mohd Hasnain was called in as substitute.
The bowler was analyzed by the medical team of the team and an MRI scan in Dubai confirmed the diagnosis as well, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced in an announcement on Friday.
“The results were reviewed with the PCB Medical Advisory Committee, while an independent review conducted by a specialist physiotherapist was requested.The medical team will track Wasim’s recovery and his return to cricket will be evaluated prior to the England tour to Pakistan,” the release stated.
In the meantime, Hasan Ali has been named as Wasim’s replacement subject to the approval of the Event Technical committee.Once the ETC accepts Hasan as a replacement the bowler will leave to the UAE the PCB stated.
Hasan Ali was sought as replacement by the team’s management and the request was approved by the chief selector.
Hasan has been practicing his bowling in the National High-Performance Centre for the last three weeks.He’s currently in Rawalpindi in preparation for the National T20, which commences on August 30, the press release stated.
