Los Angeles, Aug 26 : Hollywood star Shia LaBeouf who has been mired in legal issues in the last few years, confirms that he is currently an Catholic as well as a member of the Roman Catholic Church after completing a study for his film “Padre Pio”.In the film ‘Conversations at the Crossroads’ with Bishop Robert Barron, LaBeouf said that his faith in the religion at a low moment in his life helped save him.He states that his “life was ablaze” before he began to become familiar with the faith, as reported by aceshowbiz.com.
“I had an assault weapon placed on the table.I was out of here,” he opens up about his thoughts of suicide.
“I did not want to live anymore when this occurred.
A shame I’d never ever experienced before this type of shame that makes you forget to breathe.You aren’t sure which direction to take.You can’t go out and buy tacos.”
“I did not wish to continue acting and my life was in a mess.I had injured lots of people and I was filled with immense guilt and shame,” LaBeouf confesses of his shame, adding, “But I was also in this intense desire to keep my faith.”
After making contact with director of ‘Padre pio’ Abel Ferrara, LaBeouf began attending the seminary in San Lorenzo, California staying in the back of his vehicle in the parking area in preparation for his role.While he claimed he was initially driven by the desire to improve his career, he also looks back on the experience as an experience of God’s intervention.
“The reach-out was a reality.
There I was, and I was in no place to go.This was the final station in the train.There was no other way to go.in every way,” the 36-year-old shares.
“I am now aware that God was working through my self-esteem to draw me towards Him and to draw me away from my worldly desires.All of this was happening simultaneously.However, there would have been no reason to jump in the car to drive towards the monastery (to the monastery) If I hadn’t thought”Oh, I’m going help my career.'”
In a statement, describing his past actions as “disgusting” and “depraved,” the ‘Constantine actor says he was not worthy of going after religion but when he read the gospel, he received an “invite” to “let go.”
However, it was only when he came in contact with others who had experienced similar difficulties that he was capable of fully embracing the faith.
“It was witnessing others who had committed sins beyond what I could imagine being saved in Christ and made me feel”Okay I have hope and hope,’ ” he explains.
“I began hearing stories of other despicable people who discovered their path in this way, and I felt as if I was in control.”
While the mother of his child is Jewish and his father Christian, LaBeouf says he did not feel a strong ties to a particular religion until the present.
“I did not know I was baptized.I was previously baptized in my life but did not even remember,” he tells Barron.”My uncle had baptized me in the (Trinitarian formula).”
In ‘Padre pio’, LaBeouf plays the title role.The biopic is based on actual story of the Italian Franciscan Capuchin friar who was famous for his stigmata, also known as crucifixion injuries similar to those seen in the body of Jesus Christ.
He died in 1968, at the age of 81.He was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 1999, and was canonized in 2002.
