San Francisco, Aug 26 : Senior Indian-born Twitter executive Sandeep Pandey, vice president of engineering, has resigned from the Parag Agrawal-led company over a decade of service to be a part of Meta (formerly Facebook).According to an Insider report, Pandey, who joined Twitter in 2012 will be working on Meta’s artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning teams.
Pandey was the head of the main machine learning, data science, and Data platform at Twitter.
The school he attended was Carnegie Mellon University, he began his career working at IBM India Research Lab and Google.
In the following years, Pandey worked as research scientist at Yahoo prior to joining Twitter as a staff engineer.
In Twitter, he worked in various roles, including the senior director of engineering and director of revenue science, and also led the video and brand team according to his LinkedIn profile.
Twitter has seen a number of prominent exits since Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced a $44 billion acquisition and then halted it due to the amount of bots running on the site.
They are Katrina Lane, former VP of Twitter service; Ilya Brown, VP of Health as well as Max Schmeiser, head of data science.
Agrawal in May fired consumer product manager Kayvon Beykpour and the head of revenue products Bruce Falck, saying there is a freeze on hiring as well as Twitter will also cut spending in the majority of areas.
Twitter recently eliminated 30 percent of employees of the team responsible for recruiting talent.
Twitter has stopped most hiring and backfills except for critical roles in business as defined by ‘Staff’ member.
