Delhi Excise Policy Row: CBI investigating Sisodia’s bank locker

New Delhi, Aug 30 : In a new incident in the context with the controversy over excise policies that involves Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday visited the Punjab National Bank’s Ghaziabad branch to look into the cabinet minister’s locker at bank.
Sisodia was also at the branch of the bank along with his wife.

A large number of police officers were stationed at the bank’s entrance to avoid any untoward incidents.

“CBI did not find anything in the raids on my home.They will not discover anything in lockers, either.We’re ready for it and will provide assistance to the CBI,” Sisodia said in his tweet.

The CBI team arrived at the PNB’s Ghaziabad branch approximately 11.30 a.m.The inspection of the lockers of the bank was a component of the investigation.The CBI must include the locker’s location in the charge sheet.

The CBI has declared Sisodia the first accused in the FIR in the excise police case.

The CBI’s FIR was filed under Sections 120-B (Criminal Conspiracy) and 477-A (Falsification of accounts) of the IPC.

The accusations against Sisodia was that the liquor businessmen were granted an exemption of 30 crore.The license holders were granted extensions according to their own preferences.The policies were created in violation of excise rules.

“Manish Sisodia was the Vice Chief Minister of Delhi, Arva Gopi Krishna, the Commissioner (Excise), Anand Tiwari, the then Deputy Commissioner (Excise) as well as Pankaj Bhatnagar, Assistant Commissioner (Excise) were crucial in the recommendation and decision-making process regarding the excise policy for 2021-22, but without the approval of an authority in charge with the intention of extending unfair favors to licencees post tender.” in the FIR, that was obtained by IANS.
