New Delhi, Aug 5 : Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was arrested on Friday from the party’s headquarters when she attempted to organize a protest march to the residence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.Prior to being detained The Congress general secretary climbed the barricade’s height of three feet by jumping over it.As she attempted to walk ahead, she was stopped by the women police officers, and later the Congress General Secretary was seated in the middle of the road in protest.
Priyanka Gandhi who was unable to stop her detention jostling with police for over 20 minutes was taken away and dragged before being pushed into a police vehicle and removed.
In addition to Priyanka Gandhi, a number of party leaders including Sachin Pilot were taken into custody by the police.
The opposition party has been protesting against the government on various issues including GST, inflation and unemployment on two fronts – protest marches from 24 Akbar road, which leads to the residence of the Prime Minister as well as from Parliament up to Raisina Hills.
The Delhi Police has denied permission to the Congress for an unofficial demonstration in the capital city of the nation.
